NYSC @ 50: 10 Nigerian Artists Who Have Served Their Father’s Land
Congratulations to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) for reaching this milestone. It is a feat worthy of all celebrations.
50 years of running the NYSC scheme has been one of the most taskings, yet profiting duties of the Federal Government of Nigeria. As stated on their website; “the NYSC scheme was created in a bid to reconstruct, reconcile and rebuild the country after the Nigerian Civil war. The unfortunate antecedents in our national history gave impetus to the establishment of the National Youth Service Corps by decree No.24 of 22nd May 1973 which stated that the NYSC is being established “for the development of common ties among the youth of Nigeria and the promotion of national unity.”
And as solid children of the soil, Mp3bullet has put a list of 10 Nigerian artists who have served their father’s land, having completed their tertiary education.
In 2018, Davido stormed the NYSC Lagos Camp to take up the clarion call of youth service, having completed his Bsc programme at Babcock University.
Frankly, it was a time to be in Lagos as he thrilled fans and fellow coppers at the orientation camp with a stunning performance – making it a memorable and remarkable day.
However, Zlatan did not disclose the school he finished in and the state he served.
In 2018, Kizz Daniel took to his social media page to share a throwback photo of his service time and this sparked reactions from netizens.
The singer graduated from the Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta in 2013, with a degree in Water Resources Management.
In 2012, he got admitted to study philosophy at the University of Lagos and graduated in 2016 with a second-class upper degree.
He shared pictures of himself and the completion of his certificate.
He studied law at the University of Reading in the United Kingdom in 2010 and moved back to Nigeria to attend Nigerian Law School Abuja and was called to bar in February 2012. He served in 2011 and shared a throwback of this clarion moment a few years back.
He bagged a degree in accounting from the University of Lagos and was in a banking job before he was discovered in 2016.
He holds a Higher National Diploma in Arts and Design from Lagos State Polytechnic. In 2018, he shared a throwback picture of his time during service.
